Marbury signs


Former Georgia Tech standout Stephon Marbury has cleared waivers and has signed a contract with the defending champion Boston Celtics. Marbury is expected to be in uniform for tonights game against the Indiana Pacers. Marbury, who turned 32 last week, hasn't played a regular-season game in more than a year.

Quincy Carter Arrested


Former Georgia Bulldogs and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Quincy Carter was arrested early friday. Carter has been charged with DWI and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Jim Carrey will star in "Damn Yankees"




Jim Carrey and Jake Gyllenhall are the first two names attached to New Line Cinema's upcoming remake of the hit musical comedy "Damn Yankees". Beginning on Broadway in 1955 the musical won seven Tony Awards and was made into a feature film in 1958. It focuses on the mild mannered Joe Boyd, a man who loves a pro baseball team so much that he decides to sell his soul to the devil in order to aid them. It is said that Gyllenhall will play the role of Joe Boyd and Carrey will be The Devil.

Brady & Bundchen wed


Yesterday, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and super model girlfriend Gisele Bundchen were married in Los Angeles according to US Weekly. The ceremony was reportedly very small and intimate. The wedding party was dressed by Dolce & Gabbana.

Brooking no longer a Falcon


Kieth Brooking, the last remaining member of the Falcons from there 1998 Super Bowl appearance has left the team. Brroking became a free agent at 12:01 AM after contract negotiations broke off. Cornerback Dominique Foxworth and Defensive End Chauncey Davis also became free agents. The Falcons did agree to terms with Tight End Justin Peele, Linebacker Coy wire and Tackle Jason Jefferson. Vetern Wide Receiver Brian Finneran also agreed to have his contract restructured.

Alliance cancels iSondheim


Atlanta's world famous and Tony winning Alliance Theatre announced that it has canceled the show iSondheim: aMusical Revue. The world premiere was scheduled to begin performances April 15th. iSondheim was to showcase the life and work of Stephen Sondheim. Sondheim is best known for his work with shows such as "Sweeney Todd", "Sunday in The Park With George" and "West Side Story".In its place the regional theatre will present another revue, Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. The production, according to the Alliance website, was canceled because of "difficulties encountered by the commercial producers attached to the project, the Frankel/Viertel/Baruch/Routh group, in raising the necessary funds for the multi-media musical revue of Sondheim's life and career."

Jerry Seinfeld returns to Television


After 11 years Jerry Seinfeld is set to return to television. Jerry is co-creator and will star in "The Marriage Ref". The show will be based around celebrities, sports stars and comedians offering advice to real life couples. "This is not a therapy show, it's a comedy show," offered Seinfeld. "After nine years of marriage, I have discovered that the comedic potential of this subject is quite rich." No premiere date or time slot has been announced but the show will air on NBC.

The Simpsons & Survivor get early renewals




The longest running primetime series in television history will continue its run. Fox recently ordered two more seasons of "The Simpsons". This 44 episode order ensures that the series will last a full 22 seasons.

CBS has ordered two more seasons of the hit reality series "Survivior". These seasons will air during the 2009-2010 season and will be the nineteenth and twentieth editions.

Stark Trek comes to Quahog


In an upcoming episode of Fox's hit "Family Guy", the cast of "Star Trek: The Nesxt Generation" will make a geust appearance. The episode titled Not All Dogs Go To Heaven, will feature the voices of Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Levar Burton and many others.

Samuel L. Jackson signs 9 film contract


According to The Hollywood Reporter, Samuel L. Jackson has signed a 9 film contract in which he will play Nick Fury in those films. The films include "Iron Man 2", "Thor", "The First Avenger, Captain America", "The Avengers" and there sequels. It is possible that there will also be a "S.H.I.E.L.D." film. Jackson first made his appearance as Nick Fury after the end credits of "Iron Man".

Bucs continue to make changes


Several veteran members of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were informed this morning that they will be released before the start of free agency this week. They include future Hall of Famers Linebacker Derrick Brooks and RunningBack Warrick Dunn. Also informed were Wide Receivers Joey Galloway & Ike Hilliard as well as Linebacker Cato June.

Yogi Bear is coming to the big screen


In the growing trend of 3-D movies, Warner Bros. is moving ahead with Yogi. This will be a new take on Yogi Bear and his sdiekick Boo-Boo. Eric Brevig is set to direct the film which like Alvin & The Chipmunks will mix live action & cgi.

A new version of Clue


A new movie is in the works based on Hasbro's board game Clue. According to Variety Gore Verbinski will direct. The film will be a live-action murder-mystery, like the first Clue film made in 1985. The board game has users trying to solve the murder of Mr. Boddy, which was carried out by one of the game's characters: Professor Plum, Ms. White, Col. Mustard, Miss Peacock, Mr. Green or Ms. Scarlet.

Spider-Man is coming to The Hilton in Jan. 2010


The eagerly awaited musical, "Spider-Man, Turn Off The Dark" will officially becoming to Broadway's Hilton Theatre in January of 2010. Previews are scheduled to begin Jan. 16 with an official opening on Feb. 18. "Spider-Man" is being direceted by Julie Taymor, who is best known for directing the Tony award winning smash hit, "The Lion King". Music and lyrics for this show has been written by U2's Bono and The Edge. Casting will be forthcoming.

Richter & O'Brien will reunite


It was announced today that Andy Richter, who was Conan O'Brien's sidekick for the first seven years of "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" will join O'Brien when he makes the switch to "The Tonight Show". Richter will serve as the show's announcer and be involved in the show's comedy pieces.


When asked about Richter, Conan's response was "Andy is one of the funniest people I know and we've maintained a close friendship since he left "Late Night". "We have a proven chemistry that will be an incredible asset to "The Tonight Show." I'm looking forward to working with Andy on a daily basis again, particularly since he owes me $300."


O'Brien taped his final episode of "Late Night" last friday and will become host of "The Tonight Show" on June 1st.

Arrested Development film moving forward


MTV Movies Blog recently had a conversation with Ron Howard in which he said film version of "Arrested Development" is in the works and that, "It's going ahead." Howard added that he met with series creator Mitch Hurwitz on Friday. "I had a great meeting with Mitch," Howard said. "Things are going really well. He's writing."Howard wouldn't divulge any more information about casting or the development of the film. "We've been asked to no longer divulge anything or get into the game of who's in, who's out," "People are going to have to see."

New info on Ghostbusters 3

Sanchez victorious in lightweight debut



Diego "The Nightmare" Sanchez was victorious in his light weight debut against Joe "Daddy" Stevenson by unanimous decision at UFC 95 on saturday night. Sanchez, who had previously won the first season of "The Ultimate Fighter" and was a contender in the welterweight class at 170 lbs. said of his drop to 155 “It’s definitely permanent for now,”.

Braves sign Anderson


Veteran outfielder Garrett Anderson has agrred to terms and signed a one year contract with the Atlanta Braves. Anderson will play outfield and likely bat cleanup.

Southern Governors may look a gift horse in the mouth


Many southern republican governors including Georgia Governor, Sonny Perdue may refuse economic stimulus money.“Some of it is very helpful and some of it we’re still analyzing,” Perdue said Sunday in an interview at the National Governors Association meeting here. “We’re going to be doing due diligence on each one of these components and deciding what’s in the best long-term interest of Georgians." I sure hope he knows that what is in the best interest of Georgians is to put aside foolish party pride and work with the federal government to get the economy back on track. The stimulus money has allready been approved, whats not used in the south will just used in other parts of the country.

Dark Knight breaks $1 billion mark


"The Dark Knight" has recently become only the fourth film to earn more than $1 Billion in worldwide box offices. It joins "Titanic", "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" & "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest".

It's Hammertime!


A&E will begin filming a new reality series this week called, Hammertime. The first seasn will have 11 episodes following 90's rapper MC Hammer, his wife & five children. It is being described as being similar to an unscripted version of "The Cosby Show".

Fire Frank Wren!!!


Once again the Braves and most importantly General Manager Frank Wren have disappointed there fans, personel and players. I earlier reported (as did AJC.com) that Ken Griffey Jr. would be playing for the Atlanta Braves this season. Now it is official that Griffey will in fact return to the Seattle Mariners where he became a star in the 1990s.

Clark Howard has cancer


Clark Howard announced on his radio show today that he has prostate cancer. Doctors expect a full recovery by the financial guru due to the fact that it was detected so early. Howard plans to have surgery soon, with about two weeks off to recover.

Hawks v Cavaliers game time changed




Today, the NBA announced that the start time for the March 1st game between the home town Atlanta Hawks & the Cleveland Cavaliers has been moved to 8p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. This will be the third meeting of these two teams this season. Atlanta won the last time these two teams met in Atlanta 97-92.

Griffey picks Braves


AJC.com is reporting that Ken Griffey Jr. has chosen to sign with the Atlanta Braves. Both the Braves and the Seattle Mariners offered Griffey similar contracts, supposibly in the $2 million guaranteed range, tied to health and plate appearances. Griffey, his agent & Braves G.M. Frank Wren are meeting today to completly finalize the deal.

Falcons look to trade Vick


Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff said today in an interview for the team's website announced that they are activley pursuing a trade of the rights of former QB Michael Vick. Vick, who is currently in federal prison on dogfighting charges is scheduled to be released in July but, is still under an indefinite suspension by the league.


Where could Vick end up? I would hope that they would not trade him inside the NFC South. Carolina and Tampa Bay are among several teams that could be in the market for a quarterback. Other candidates include Detroit, Cleveland, Kansas City, the New York Jets, San Francisco and Chicago. Also, former Falcons head coach Jim Mora, who went to the NFC championship game with Vick, is head coach in Seattle. Greg Knapp, the former offensive coordinator for the Falcons when Vick was the starting quarterback, is on Mora’s staff.

Beckham to return to Galaxy


David Beckham will indeed return to the MLS' L.A. Galaxy next month at the conclusion of his loan to AC Milan. Beckham's wish was to remain in Italy but the Galaxy rejected Milan's offer to keep him earlier this week. Beckham's main reason for wanting to stay was to make a push to make England's national team for the 2010 World Cup which will be held in South Africa.

Jackson reportedly ill


MSN.com and The Times of London are reporting that "The King of Pop" Michael Jackson is suffering from a severe staph infection. The 50 year old singer is said to have contracted after a recent reconstructive surgery on his nose.

Best In Show


Last night a 10 year old Sussex Spaniel named Stump came out of retirement to claim the title of Best In Show at the 133rd Westminster Kennel Club show in NYC. He beat out nearly 2,500 dogs in 170 breeds and varieties to claim the title. He is now the oldest dog to be named Best In Show at Westminster.

Broadway Brett lasted only one season with the New York Jets. Brett Favre officially retired again this morning. Likely for the last time.

H-O-R-S-E competitors announced

A-Rod admits steroid use


alex rodriguez has just come out on record admiting that he used steroids. He told ESPN today...


"When I arrived in Texas in 2001, I felt an enormous amount of pressure. I needed to perform, and perform at a high level every day,". "Back then, [baseball] was a different culture. It was very loose. I was young, I was stupid, I was naïve. I wanted to prove to everyone I was worth being one of the greatest players of all time.


"I did take a banned substance. For that, I'm very sorry and deeply regretful."


This comes after a story broke by Sports Illustrated said that Rodriguez was one of 104 players in MLB who tested positive for a banned substance in 2003.

Rihanna, Brown cases linked


Apparently the unidentified woman in the Chris Brown case, which was reported on yesterday was in fact his girlfriend Rihanna, making the report of her in a car accident erroneous. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that Rihanna was “reportedly hospitalized with bruises on her face.” Los Angeles police officer Karen Smith says Brown walked into a station around 7 p.m. and was being interviewed by detectives. He released on $50,000 bail, according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement. Both Brown and Rihanna were no-shows for Sunday night’s Grammy Awards. Both were nominated and scheduled to perform.

Brown accussed

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Los Angeles police say Chris Brown has turned himself in to authorities investigating an alleged felony battery involving the R&B singer.


Los Angeles police officer Karen Smith says Brown walked into a station around 7 p.m. and was being interviewed by detectives. Smith said he was not in custody.


Police say the 19-year-old singer and a woman were in a vehicle in the Hancock Park neighborhood early Sunday when they began arguing, and the argument escalated when they got out of the car.


Police say the woman identified Brown as her attacker, but he was gone by the time officers arrived.

Whitney is Back!


Last evening multiple Grammy awrd winner, superstar and diva, Whitney Houston returned to the stage. She was the headlining performer at Clive Davis' annual pre-grammy party.
