I Have The Power...MOTU film back on track

Warner Bros. & producer Joel Silver have found a director for there new "Masters of the Universe" film. John Stevenson, best known for directing this past summer's hit "Kung Fu Pand" is there man. The script, written by Justin Marks, was acquired by Warner Brothers in 2007, and will be produced by Joel Silver, with toy-maker Mattel's Barry Waldo as executive producer.

Stevenson was initially reluctant to work on the film, based on his memories of the 1987 film starring Dolph Lungdren and Frank Langella, but his mind was changed by a visit to Mattel headquarters where he got to see the visuals created by the toymaker staff.

"There was this locked bunker that you had to be escorted into," Stevenson said. "It was filled with art, some generated by the Mattel artists, and I looked around, and said, 'I get it.' We started formulating a specific vision for costumes, creatures, architecture, and the creation of a mythology and look for a whole world we'll create."Waldo says that Stevenson's vision to elevate "Masters of the Universe" matched Mattel's desire to make a high-quality, big Hollywood film around the characters. "John had such passion that we found ourselves trying to run to catch up with his vision."

"Masters of the Universe" follows the story of Prince Adam of Eternia, a land of magic that finds itself coming under fire from the evil forces of Skeletor. Prince Adam is granted the power of the Castle Greyskull to transform into He-Man to protect Eternia.

Anti-Limbaugh petition launched

From CNN.com...

(CNN) – In a bid to capitalize on Rush Limbaugh's recent comment that he hopes President Obama "fails," national Democrats launched a petition drive Wednesday taking direct aim at the conservative radio host.

"Jobs, health care, our place in the world — the stakes for our nation are high and every American needs President Obama to succeed," says the petition, sponsored by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "Stand strong against Rush Limbaugh's Attacks — sign our petition, telling Rush what you think of his attacks on President Obama."

Limbaugh told listeners last week he sharply disagrees with Republicans who have said they hope Obama succeeds as president, and particularly expressed frustration over what he viewed as the "absorption of as much of the private sector by the US government as possible, from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care."

"If I wanted Obama to succeed, I'd be happy the Republicans have laid down," Limbaugh said. "I hope he fails."

The comment sparked outrage in Democratic circles, while defenders of the remark said it was made purely in the context of Obama's economic polices.
